A unique and groundbreaking institution in Kingston, Jamaica. The school was founded by parents in 1993. They believed that their children who developed differently had the right to education. The right to take part in social interaction with other children and to be given the opportunity and specialized help to reach his/her full potential. The STEP Centre: - emphasizes full parental participation and on going staff development
- provides a training resource for professionals and paraprofessionals in the field
- seeks to be an advocate for children with disabilities and their families
The STEP Centre is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team including teachers, physiotherapist, speech and occupational therapists and teaching assistants. |

Step Centre News
- The S.T.E.P. Centre opened for the Christmas Term on Tuesday, 8th September, 2009. We would like to say thanks to our friends and well wishers who have continued to support us through the sponsorship of individual children as we welcome three new students to our school.
- We begin this school year with a full compliment of staff including all our therapists.
- STEP’s professional team is now complete as we now have the service of Christina Chin, an Occupational Therapist.
- A fundraising movie premiere was held in June 2009 and we wish to say a very big thank you to all friends, sponsors and all who supported this successful fundraiser.
- Digicel has pledged the proceeds from the Rising Stars Concert to our building fund. Our work was highlighted in a video presentation shown on TVJ. Many thanks Digicel.
